Directions to Computer Science / Merchant Venturers Building

Here's a map of the area (postcode BS8 1UB).

The Merchant Venturer's Building (MVB) is about half way between the centre of Bristol (St. Augustine's Parade) and the bottom of Whiteladies Rd.

MVB is the modern-looking building just down the hill from the Wills building on Queens Rd. (which looks like a cathedral but is actually part of the university). (Here's a picture of the Wills building on the left and MVB on the right, seen along Park Row.)

The entrance to our part of the building is at the back on Woodland Rd., so go up the steps in the big empty area between the Wills building and MVB if you're approaching from Park Rd. / Queens Rd. Here's a picture from the Woodland road side. B

Parking

You can park at the NCP multi-storey car park.

Alternatively you can park at the Hawthorns. You can't tell on the map, but this is between Elton Rd. and Woodland Rd. You may be asked to park in the courtyard behind the building (entrance off Woodland Rd.). Parking information is here).

Directions to this part of Bristol

By Train

Take the train to Bristol Temple Meads (the main station). In front of the station you can either take bus 8, 9, 508, 509 or a taxi. All busses stop on the top of Park Street, outside ``Greggs''. When you get out of the bus, you will notice a traffic light at your left hand side (back where the bus came from). Go to this traffic light, cross Park Street, cross Park Row, 40 yards to the right is a new building, with stairs along the side. Walk up the stairs, the entrance is on your right hand. You can also walk, which takes about 30 minutes.

By Airplane

Fly to Bristol Lulsgate International airport. You can hire a care or take a taxi. Most people will take the Bristol flyer shuttle bus. Get off at Bristol Temple meads if you want to take a city bus to the MVB. Otherwise get off at the Bristol coach station and walk 10 minutes to the MVB.

By Car

If you approach from the North you'll enter Bristol via the M32 motorway.
